Qualified Charitable Distribution

A simple and tax-smart way to support Bennington Museum while making use of funds from your IRA.

Individuals aged 70½ or older who own a Traditional IRA or an inherited Traditional IRA may be eligible to make a direct gift from their IRA to Bennington Museum. Because the gift is transferred directly from the IRA to a qualified public charity, it may be excluded from taxable income.

For donors who must take a Required Minimum Distribution (RMD), a QCD may also count toward satisfying all or part of that annual requirement. In 2026, eligible IRA owners may transfer up to $111,000 through Qualified Charitable Distributions.

Making a QCD is usually simple. Contact the financial institution that manages your IRA and ask them to issue a Qualified Charitable Distribution directly to Bennington Museum. They can help you complete the necessary steps.

We encourage you to consult your financial advisor or tax professional to determine whether a QCD is right for you.
