Walking Tour of the Old First Church

A Bennington Historical Society Presentation

On July 11 at 2pm the Bennington Historical Society will present a walking tour of the Old First Church, “Vermont’s Colonial Shrine” constructed in 1806, and the adjoining cemetery containing the memorials to many famous local people including governors, founders of the community and soldiers who fought in the Revolutionary War. The tour will be conducted by Vicky Prinz. Participants should meet at the church a little before 2:00. No registration required.

About the Presenter:

Vicki is a retired CFO of a large dealer group in Troy, Michigan.  After moving to Bennington, Vermont in 2003, she became interested in the region’s historical sites and history.  She started volunteering at Historic Park-McCullough House, then decided to become a docent at the Old First Church’s Open Church program.  Many of their guests made inquiries of their ancestors buried in the cemetery adjacent to the church. Vicki starting organizing the church’s records and became a taphophile. Vicki has been a trustee of the Bennington Centre Cemetery Association for about 5 years and is currently their acting historian.
