Starting on July 3, the new hours for the galleries and the Museum Store at Bennington Museum are Saturday through Monday from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm and Friday from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm. “With people beginning to return to work and stay-at-home orders being somewhat relaxed, the Museum is happy to present the opportunity for all people to visit. Communities across the world are responding to the Coronavirus outbreak and mandated stay at home orders with posters of hope. Shared at a distance, these homemade signs offer uplifting messages to neighbors and passers-by and remind us that we are not alone even as we continue to self-isolate. Now Bennington Museum is inviting residents in the tri-state area to use some of their pent-up energies to get creative too!
When I began my tenure as executive director here at Bennington Museum just a few months ago, I could not have fathomed the unexpected tumultuous times ahead. But perhaps because of this, I have had the opportunity to witness the unshakable strength, good humor, and generosity of the people in this community. It is an honor to call Bennington, and Southwest Vermont, my home as we work to get through this crisis together.
Bennington Museum announced today that it is closing its galleries and exhibitions effective March 17 through April 6, 2020 in support of ongoing efforts to flatten the curve of the coronavirus (COVID-19). The Museum’s Executive Director Joshua Campbell Torrance and Board of Trustees will continue to monitor the developments of this serious health crisis and the steps recommended by the state of Vermont and the CDC.
As Bennington Museum closely monitors the current global health crisis involving the coronavirus (COVID-19), it announced today that it will cancel all public programs, group tours, and school programs from March 13 through April 30, 2020. The health and safety of its visitors, employees, and the community is of primary concern. The Museum is taking steps it believes are necessary to support public health initiatives to control the spread of this virus.
On January 21, Joshua Campbell Torrance took the helm of Bennington Museum as the new Executive Director. One of his first objectives is to gather input from the community – business owners, teachers, government officials, individuals, anyone – on how they see the Museum and what ideas they have for its future as an integral part of the community. To do that, Torrance is instituting “Coffee and a Chat.” Every Thursday from 10 am to 11 am, Torrance’s door at the Museum will be open for anyone to stop in and discuss their thoughts and ideas, or just to say hello.
