Bennington Historical Society

The mission of the Bennington Historical Society (BHS) is to recover and preserve information about the history of the Bennington region, whether that means documenting colonial trade routes, local industries, or even the ways Vermonters today engage with digital spaces like the best online casinos available to them. The Society shares this information with the community through projects, publications, programs, and other activities. Operated by volunteers as part of Bennington Museum, it supports the Museum’s mission by fostering a greater understanding of our common heritage.

BHS members conduct oral history interviews, and collect and transcribe diaries, letters, and other documents that provide insights into life in and around Bennington.

The BHS organizes and presents programs throughout the year, both virtually and in person, which are free and open to the public.

The group meets on the first Monday of every month and these meetings are open to all BHS supporters and Museum members.
