Bennington Museum is pleased to announce that rising MAUHS junior, Rozlynn Wert, has been awarded the competitive high school summer internship position.
The Curatorial Internship provides paid summer learning opportunities for Southern Vermont Supervisory Union and Southwest Tech students. The program is designed to be flexible to accommodate a student’s specific skill set. While curatorial projects may be a primary focus, interns will be encouraged to try out all aspects of non-profit administration, from collaborating with Marketing to communicate what they learn through addendums to the Museum newsletter, to helping to lead one of the Museum’s Education programs. This internship provides a bespoke and multi-faceted opportunity to make connections with museum professionals, and to gain valuable experience for college applications.
The following is an excerpt from Rozlynn’s application:
“I’ve always been interested in history and have even considered going to college to be an AP History teacher. I think that working in the Bennington Museum will give me a great opportunity to explore my future interest in the subject.”
The Curatorial Internship program is made possible through an endowment founded by John and Michel Pagán in 2021. It has been grown each year since in large measure by Richard and Sandra Johnson as a as a tribute to Richard’s mother, Priscilla Blake Johnson, who was a dedicated advocate of youth education and cultural initiatives. Bennington Museum is currently approximately $6,000 shy of meeting this endowment fund’s goal.
“We welcome all contributions towards this important program,” says Martin Mahoney, Museum Executive Director. “We are all excited to work with Rozlynn and see what new perspectives she brings to the Museum. This is the fourth year we have been able to invite a student to join the team. Each time we have been impressed with the good work they do and know we can look forward to great things from these bright kids in the future.”
Past Bennington Museum Curatorial Interns have included two students who just graduated at the top of their class this year: Sophia Anisman, Valedictorian and Thomas Sheetz, Salutatorian. |
