Museum ABCs is a free monthly program for children ages 3 to 5 and their adult companions. It introduces families to the cultural resources of the Museum, building creative connections and promoting Kindergarten readiness through peer group socialization and early literacy practice.
The program is produced in collaboration with the Bennington Free Library and is generously sponsored by the Bank of Bennington whose fundamental and consistent support has made this program possible for the past twelve years.
Bennington Museum is thrilled to have been awarded a $25,000 grant from the A.D. Henderson Foundation to expand the reach of the Museum ABCs preschool program to families in Bennington who have not yet been able to take advantage of the Museum offerings. As program director Deana Mallory says, “Linda Donigan, my collaborator at the Bennington Free Library, and I are excited about this opportunity to broaden the reach of Museum ABCs. We look forward to working with our community partners to learn how we can welcome new audiences to the program.”
In service of this goal, the Museum has announced the opening of an application for the grant funded position of Community Engagement Coordinator (CEC). The CEC will facilitate partnerships between the Museum and the target communities and will work with Bennington College CAPA students to determine what barriers there are to participation and how best to address them.
The job description may be found on HERE.
To apply, applicants are requested to send resume, cover letter, and references to dmallory@benningtonmuseum.org by February 12.
