 Bennington Museum Announces Temporary Closure

Bennington Museum announced today that it is closing its galleries and exhibitions effective March 17 through April 6, 2020 in support of ongoing efforts to flatten the curve of the coronavirus (COVID-19). The Museum’s Executive Director Joshua Campbell Torrance and Board of Trustees will continue to monitor the developments of this serious health crisis and the steps recommended by the state of Vermont and the CDC. Changes to the dates mentioned here will be adjusted as necessary to ensure the safety of visitors, staff, families, and the community. Any changes will be published as soon as they are known. As previously reported, all public programming is canceled through April 30.

While the galleries and exhibitions are closed to the public, the Museum will be developing strategies to produce online and virtual programming opportunities. We welcome your thoughts and ideas on how to bring you virtual programming. Feel free to email us at ideas@benningtonmuseum.org. The George Aiken Wildflower Trail remains open to the public and we encourage you to explore our collections through our website.

While we are not aware of any coronavirus cases affiliated with the Museum, we will use this time to follow its cleaning protocols and further assess the buildings systems to ensure a safe and healthy environment when the Museum reopens. Everyone is encouraged to stay informed by following the CDC health notices and the Vermont Department of Health.
Bennington Museum is located at 75 Main Street (Route 9), Bennington, in The Shires of Vermont. Visit the museum’s website benningtonmuseum.org to explore the online collection or read interesting articles that have been published on the Collections/Research tab.
