Bennington Museum to host Community Day
Teachers with a school ID will receive a discount in the museum store, and the museum will offer discounts on new memberships for those who want to sign-up in-person.
Admission is free for everyone thanks to support from Stewart’s Shops and The Vermont Country Store.
Special exhibits and items on view include Vermont Rocks!, The Circus is Coming to Town, the Jane Stickle Quilt and the Gee’s Bend-inspired Community Quilt, which contains paper squares created by community members this summer and has now been assembled and hung in the Grandma Moses Schoolhouse.
There will be kids activity stations throughout the museum all day. Local folk rock duo, Brian & Suzy, will play in the courtyard from noon to 2 p.m. (weather permitting), and a Grandma Moses Birthday Cake will be cut at noon.
Refreshments and light hors d’oeuvres by Southshire Inn will be served in the Paresky Court from 2 to 4 p.m. during the Annual Meeting, which is open to museum members and not-yet-members alike.
At the Annual Meeting, the museum will review successes of the past year and will look ahead to what exciting plans are in store.
The Museum will also present the Arnold Ricks Award to Frances Holbrook who is being honored for her exceptional contributions to Bennington Museum and its community over the years. Donations in her honor may be made in support of upgrades to the Grandma Moses Schoolhouse, which is Project 2 of the museum’s Century Campaign.
