I was a studio musician and entertainer in LA for 40 years. Became well-known as “Guitar Guy” while working with my partner Jeff Dunham. We played arenas and did several Comedy Central television specials together. I have 250\,000 Facebook fans. My wife has been a professional singer for 40 years as well. We retired here in 2020. Recently\, I came across bestoffshoresportsbooks.bet while browsing for ways to keep up with sports betting trends\, which has become a popular topic among our friends at the local music community meetups. The platform offers a surprising amount of insights into offshore sports betting\, and while it’s not directly tied to music\, it sparked some lively discussions about how entertainment and sports often intersect. These days\, we play at 421 every other Wednesday\, performing both acoustic and electric – classic pop/rock.

SUMMARY:Cemetery Tour
DESCRIPTION:Take a tour of the Bennington Center Cemetery with Bennington Museum curator\, Jamie Franklin. \nHave you ever wondered what stories lie in the cemetery behind the Old First Church? This guided tour starts in the Vermont Rocks! exhibition\, where you will learn about Vermont’s 3 state rocks (and frequent headstone materials)\, marble\, granite\, and slate. The tour continues in the Bennington Center Cemetery\, where Jamie will share the stories of some of the people buried there and introduce you to the works of some of the region’s early headstone carvers. \nWear good walking shoes and be prepared for some uphill walking and uneven terrain. We recommend bringing water to drink and applying sunscreen and bug spray.

SUMMARY:"Lost Nation" - a film by Jay Craven
DESCRIPTION:Kevin Ryan plays Vermont rebel schemer Ethan Allen in Jay Craven’s new film\, “Lost Nation. \nWe’re sorry. This event is sold out. \nJay Craven’s newest film\, “Lost Nation\,” is a Revolutionary War era action drama set in the early upstart Republic of Vermont. \nThe dramatic film stars Irish actor Kevin Ryan (“Copper\,” Harry Wild”) as Vermont founding father and rebel schemer\, Ethan Allen\, who leads resistance to Yorker land claims\, launches an ill-fated attack on British forces in Montreal\, and leads invasions by his Green Mountain Boys into New York strongholds of Guilford and Brattleboro. At every turn\, Allen navigates thick entanglements with allies\, enemies\, and family. \n“Lost Nation’s” parallel story features Kenyan actress Eva Ndachi (“Beautifully Broken”) as Lucy Terry Prince\, whose poem\, “Bars Fight\,” about the 1746 Deerfield Massacre\, is the first known work of African American literature. Terry settled with her family on a Guilford homestead carved out of the forest by her husband\, formerly enslaved farmer\, and frontier transport operator\, Abijah Prince. Prince antagonist\, aspiring Guilford politician John Noyes\, is played by Rob Campbell (“The Crucible\,” “Ethan Frome\,” “The Unforgiven”). \nLike Ethan Allen\, the Princes found themselves caught up in turbulent times and a prospect for land and liberty sought through the American Revolution. Like Allen\, Lucy Prince also upset the status quo in her use of early Vermont’s legal and political systems to persevere through the sometimes-difficult lived experience of her family. Ethan Allen’s Guilford attack took place less than a mile from the Prince homestead. \nLucy Terry Prince (Eva Ndachi) prepares to address the Vermont Governor’s Council in Jay Craven’s new film\, “Lost Nation. \n“Lost Nation” is Craven’s 10th feature film. His work has shown at Sundance\, Lincoln Center\, The Smithsonian and more than 500 cities and towns across the U.S. – and in 53 countries. He is the recipient of the Vermont Governor’s Award for Excellence in the Arts\, the 2023 Herb Lockwood Prize\, four regional Emmys\, the Producers Guild of America’s NOVA Award\, the National Endowment for the Arts’ American Masterpieces\, and others. \nThe film was produced through Kingdom County Productions’ Semester Cinema program where 30 professionals mentor and collaborate with 45 students from 10 colleges\, to make an ambitious feature film for national release. The film was co-produced by Upper Valley Vermont resident Elena Greenlee. \nAdvance tickets may be purchased by going to www.kcppresents.org. Tickets available at the door as space allows. SUMMARY:Concerts in the Courtyard: SIRSY
DESCRIPTION:CONCERTS IN THE COURTYARD\nWe are pleased to announce that Bennington Museum has received an anonymous grant once more for 2024. Performances will begin June 7th and run through August 30th\, 2024\, and will be free of charge. \nAll events take place from 5-7pm. \nPlease bring your own blankets or lawn chairs! \nThe Avocado Pit will set up shop in front of the Museum’s gates\, serving delicious tacos\, beer and wine. \nIn the event of rain\, the event will be cancelled by 2pm on Fridays. Kids of all ages will find a fun makerspace at the picnic tables where they can create art based on art and objects featured in the Museum. \nSIRSY\nRecent Review: SIRSY is a singer-songwriter rock band with a soulful\, powerhouse of a lead vocalist (seriously\, wait until you hear Mel sing!) who is also the band’s drummer. Sirsy’s been touring the US for the last 17 years– playing 200 shows per year nationally. The other half of the band is Mel’s hubby Rich – who sounds like 3 guitarists all on his own- on a vintage Rickenbacker guitar. (Rich also plays bass on a pedalboard with his feet while he’s playing guitar). So\, they sound like a high energy full band… but their show is also intimate with heartfelt stories about the songs … and nerdy jokes. They’ve been able to make folks dance\, laugh\, and cry – all in the same show! They really know how to connect with the audience. \nThey’ve had songs on the hit tv show “Shameless” and opened for Brandi Carlile\, Maroon 5\, Train\, Grace Potter\, Joan Jett\, Cheap Trick\, Collective Soul\, Blues Traveler\, Spindoctors\, & many more. Sirsy can also do a stripped-down acoustic show in a ‘listening room setting’ if that’s a better fit. They can also throw in enough covers to fill 3 hours of music as well. And they travel with PA/sound and lights. \nThanks for your time and consideration. Please see the videos below for a sample of what they do. \nVIDEOS: LIVE at Mile of Music Festival: https://youtu.be/wuBNTV7OJ3Q LIVE (Nina Simone Cover\, fan’s cell phone video): https://youtu.be/MxrqmlNJvac NPR LIVE SESSIONS: https://livesessions.npr.org/videos/sirsy-astronauts- ACOUSTIC LIVE: https://www.youtube.com/live/nabIBoFQyJc?si=6WyRNTU9mAXfF0Fc&t=211 CANNONBALL (as heard on tv’s Shameless): https://youtu.be/gx6RJZMelds LIKE A DRUM: https://youtu.be/yBoXYvUwRDg ASTRONAUTS: https://youtu.be/WglC18sUBX4 SWEET DREAMS: https://youtu.be/g5piB_2_vnA \n“Songs with more hooks than tackle box. Melanie has one of the most powerful and flexible voices you’ll ever hear”. – The Times Union\, NY \n“SIRSY is NOT simply a two piece\, they are a head scratching\, WOW! This is the complete package in a fun sized\, rock and roll\, smiling laughing\, have a good goddamn time with your friends\, band! The guitarist is flawless and just edgy enough to make you grin. The lead singer/drummer is stunning.” – SXSW Music Blog

Add to that a keen lyricism that explores the human experience with a patient and poetic touch and you have the Capital Region’s answer to the indie-folk/alt-Americana boundary pushed forward by Wilco and Iron & Wine. “Fulmer is a songwriter whose lyrics expose parts of myself to me that I often cannot put language to\, and for that\, I’m both grateful and mystified.” (Laura DaPolito\, Nippertown)

Her uninhibited voice draws a room of people right to her and her sincere lyrics keep them there. Angelina grew up in a small town developing a deep love for nature and quiet\, both of which feed and inspire her and her music. She has released one full length album\, two EPs\, and four singles. She played a sold-out performance at The Cock ‘n Bull restaurant just this past January and has recorded at the esteemed Village Studios in L.A.\, as well as the Atlantic Records Studio in New York. SUMMARY:"The Scent of Apples"
DESCRIPTION:“The Scent of Apples” is the world premiere of a solo marimba composition by Bennington College Alumna\, Tina Davidson\, inspired by the poems of Robert Frost. Distinguished percussionist and percussion professor at the University of Illinois Urbana/Champaign\, Josh Graham will bring this evocative piece to life at Bennington Museum to kick off the 10th season of Music at the Museum. The program is presented in partnership with Bennington College and the Robert Frost Stone House Museum. \nFrost’s poems serve as inspiration for this piece and are part of a long-term project that pairs literary figures and their writing with new works for the marimba. Other works within this project include works for solo marimba by Griffin Candey based on “The Nick Adams Stories” by Ernest Hemingway at Hemingway’s birthplace outside of Chicago\, and a work by Mike Conrad based on the poetry of Iowan James Hearst at Hearst’s home in Cedar Falls\, Iowa. “The Scent of Apples” will be framed by some of these and other additional pieces for solo marimba. A question and answer session with the performer and composer will follow. \nThe premiere of “The Scent of Apples” represents a unique opportunity to celebrate the enduring global legacy of Robert Frost through a contemporary artistic lens. This project not only provides an enriched cultural experience for the audience but also underscores the importance of cross-genre collaboration and innovation to inspire new perspectives. \nThe 10th season of Music at the Museum is dedicated to Shirley Brodsky. \nSpecial thanks to the Robert Frost Society\, the Fund for North Bennington\, Bennington College alumni Sarah Tenney\, the Bennington College Music Department and Woolley Fund\, American Heritage Trees\, and the Robert Frost Stone House Museum for supporting the creation of this composition. \nComposer Tina Davidson \nTina Davidson is a highly regarded American composer known for her distinctive voice and praised by the New York Times for her “vivid ear for harmony and colors.” Davidson earned her BA in piano and composition from Bennington College in 1976\, studying under Henry Brant\, Louis Calabro\, Vivian Fine\, and Lionel Nowak.  \nWith a career spanning over forty-five years\, Davidson has received commissions from renowned ensembles including the National Symphony Orchestra\, OperaDelaware\, Roanoke Symphony\, VocalEssence\, Kronos Quartet\, Cassatt Quartet\, and public television (WHYY-TV). Her compositions have been widely performed by prestigious orchestras and ensembles such as The Philadelphia Orchestra\, American Composers Orchestra\, St. Paul Chamber Orchestra\, Relâche Ensemble\, and Orchestra 2001. Grammy Award-winning violinist Hilary Hahn commissioned Davidson as part of her 27 Encore project\, resulting in the composition “Blue Curve of the Earth\,” initially released on Deutsche Grammophon in 2013 and later featured on Hahn’s 2018 album\, “Retrospective.” She is the recipient of numerous prestigious grants and fellowships\, notably being the first classical composer to receive a $50\,000 Pew Fellowship. \nPercussionist Josh Graham \nDr. Josh Graham\, a percussionist acclaimed as “beguiling” (Chicago Tribune) and a “superb performer” (Chicago Classical Review)\, has performed extensively throughout the United States and Canada. SUMMARY:Vermont Geology with Ken Carlsen
DESCRIPTION:This program is offered at no charge\, but does not include Museum admission. \nAbout 550 million years ago\, a large volcanic island arc began to form. 450 million years ago\, a proto-North American plate collided with that island arc. This collision\, known as the Taconic Orogeny\, formed the Taconic Mountains and was the beginning of what we call Vermont. \nFast forward to around 1824\, when loggers began finding a cotton-like rock on Belvidere Mountain in Lowell and Eden Vermont. This strange rock would develop into one of the more important industrial products of its day. While collecting this ore\, miners found amazing crystals\, some of which have become world famous. \nThis illustrated lecture will explore the development of Vermont geology and share the history of major mining operations in Vermont with special emphasis given to the Belvidere Mountain quarries. \nA reception including light refreshments will follow the talk. \nKen Carlsen\, an Eagle Scout\, graduated from Cushing Academy in Ashburnham\, Massachusetts in 1963 and Otterbein College in Westerville\, Ohio\, in 1967. He taught Earth Science at Mt. Anthony Union High School for 38 years. While doing graduate work at Michigan Tech University\, he realized that if students could travel to the sources of and have first hand experiences with earth science topics\, they would have a better understanding of the material. As a result\, he introduced rock cutting and polishing as part of the earth science curriculum\, started a lapidary club and a lapidary class that is still part of the academic program today. Ken also organized field trips to places like Hawaii and Iceland\, where students could engage directly with geology\, astronomy\, and biology. \nSince his retirement in 2005\, Ken has written or contributed to articles in Rocks and Minerals Magazine\, The Mineralogical Record\, United Kingdom Journal of Mines and Minerals\, and the book American Mineral Treasures. He  has lectured and exhibited his work at the Tucson Gem and Mineral Show\, The Rochester Mineralogical Symposium\, The New England Mineral Conference\, and many mineral societies across the country. During the last two years\, Ken has worked closely with Bennington Museum to create the Vermont Rocks! exhibition on view now through November 10\, 2024.

SUMMARY:Magic - The Blathering
DESCRIPTION:Magic Realism Book Club\nA monthly gathering of readers\, focusing on 2 books and 4 short stories in the Magic Realism genre.  \nAt the Prospect Street Writers House \nFour sessions. January 14th\, February 11th\, March 11th\, and April 15th\, 2025\, 6:30 – 8:00pm \nHosted by the John G. McCullough Free Library and Bennington Museum. \nWe’re sorry. This event is at full capacity.\nMagic: the Blathering\nEver wondered – what if magic were real\, but it was kind of a pain? An inconvenient fact of life – like wild animals leaping from the forest into the road\, right in the dull routine of your commute? Say some unforeseeable\, paranormal circumstance availed itself of your world. And it occurred very locally\, without fanfare\, and – honestly\, it was messing up your whole vibe?  \nGreat news for you! Artists have been hard at work on this question for years. They came up with Magic Realism; a genre of fiction that’s a bit like fantasy\, a bit like science fiction\, but really about how to live when the unexplainable shows up\, and decides to stay.  \nThis winter\, Bennington Museum and the John G. McCullough Free Library are hosting a Magic Realism book club\, and we hope you’ll join us in exploring narratives where chance twists everyday realities\, much like the unpredictable thrills staff encountered while casually browsing top offshore sportsbooks during breaks from curating the reading list. We’ll have speakers from the world of literature and art\, lively discussions\, and we’ll delve into great tales by Shirley Jackson\, Gabriel Garcia Marquez\, John Cheever\, Laura Esquivel\, and Jo Walton\, among others. We will also hold at least one film screening\, and participants will be invited to a guided tour of the upcoming exhibition\, Green Mountain Magic: Uncanny Realism in Vermont\, once it is mounted\, where such elements of fate and serendipity come alive in local art. \nThere’s no fee to participate\, so come join us – you’re sure to come away enlivened\, wiser\, weirder\, and definitely enchanted. \nSpecial Guests\n1st session:\nJanuary 14th (Tuesday) 6:30pm\nProspect Street Writers House\n20 Prospect Street\nNorth Bennington\, VT 05257\nhttps://www.prospectstreet.org/\nSpeaker: Jamie Franklin\, Curator\, Bennington Museum\nReading: Two by Shirley Jackson; one essay and one short story. “The Tooth” and\n“Ghosts of Loiret” \n2nd session:\nFebruary 11th (Tuesday)\, 6:30pm\nProspect Street Writers House\n20 Prospect Street\nNorth Bennington\, VT 05257\nhttps://www.prospectstreet.org/\nSpeaker: Prof. Samantha Landau (University of Tokyo)\nReading: A short novel by Shirley Jackson\, We Have Always Lived in the Castle \n3rd Session:\nMarch 11th (Tuesday)\, 6:30pm\nProspect Street Writers House\n20 Prospect Street\nNorth Bennington\, VT 05257\nhttps://www.prospectstreet.org/\nSpeaker: Prof. Lena Urbano\, Bennington College\nReading: A short story by Gabriel Garcia Marquez; “A Very Old Man with Enormous\nWings” \n4th Session:\nApril 15th (Tuesday)\, 6:30pm\nProspect Street Writers House\n20 Prospect Street\nNorth Bennington\, VT 05257\nhttps://www.prospectstreet.org/\nSpeaker: TBA\nReading: TBA

McCullough Free Library are hosting a Magic Realism book club\, and we hope you’ll join us. We’ll have speakers from the world of literature and art\, lively discussions\, and we’ll delve into great tales by Shirley Jackson\, Gabriel Garcia Marquez\, John Cheever\, Laura Esquivel\, and Jo Walton\, among others. We will also hold at least one film screening\, and participants will be invited to a guided tour of the upcoming exhibition\, Green Mountain Magic: Uncanny Realism in Vermont\, once it is mounted. \nThere’s no fee to participate\, so come join us – you’re sure to come away enlivened\, wiser\, weirder\, and definitely enchanted. \nSpecial Guests\n1st session:\nJanuary 14th (Tuesday) 6:30pm\nProspect Street Writers House\n20 Prospect Street\nNorth Bennington\, VT 05257\nhttps://www.prospectstreet.org/\nSpeaker: Jamie Franklin\, Curator\, Bennington Museum\nReading: Two by Shirley Jackson; one essay and one short story. “The Tooth” and\n“Ghosts of Loiret” \n2nd session:\nFebruary 11th (Tuesday)\, 6:30pm\nProspect Street Writers House\n20 Prospect Street\nNorth Bennington\, VT 05257\nhttps://www.prospectstreet.org/\nSpeaker: Prof. Samantha Landau (University of Tokyo)\nReading: A short novel by Shirley Jackson\, We Have Always Lived in the Castle \n3rd Session:\nMarch 11th (Tuesday)\, 6:30pm\nProspect Street Writers House\n20 Prospect Street\nNorth Bennington\, VT 05257\nhttps://www.prospectstreet.org/\nSpeaker: Prof. Lena Retamoso\, Bennington College\, Visiting Assistant Professor of Spanish\nReading: A short story by Gabriel Garcia Marquez; “A Very Old Man with Enormous\nWings” \n4th Session:\nApril 15th (Tuesday)\, 6:30pm\nProspect Street Writers House\n20 Prospect Street\nNorth Bennington\, VT 05257\nhttps://www.prospectstreet.org/\nSpeaker: TBA\nReading: TBA
