SUMMARY:Katie Beck in Concert
DESCRIPTION:Katie Beck presents an afternoon of music – classical\, crossover\, and more – taking inspiration from the Museum’s exhibition\, Vermont Vice on view now through November 1\, 2026. Katie will set the scene of Vermont as an idyllic rural paradise before exposing its dark side through songs about murder\, drunkenness and all-around bad behavior. The afternoon will be redeemed when it finishes off with a selection of Katie’s favorite tunes. The program includes everything from Rossini to Cole Porter to Sondheim – a little something for everyone. Katie will be accompanied by pianist Chris Rose. \nHailed by the Boston Globe as “balmy-voiced” and for her “uniformly excellent” performances\, mezzo-soprano Katherine Beck has performed with operas\, orchestras\, and symphonies throughout the country\, from Los Angeles to Florida and everywhere in between\, but she calls Bennington “home.” While best known for operatic roles such as Marquise Melibea in Il viaggio a Reims and Rosina in Il barbiere di Siviglia\, Katie’s repertoire also include jazz\, showtunes\, folk music and more. Kaite is a winner of the prestigious George London Foundation Award\, among others. She earned her Master of Music degree from the Thornton School of Music at the University of California\, in which she sang Béatrice in Béatrice and Bénédict and Sesto in La clemenza di Tito. Katie lives in Shaftsbury\, Vermont with her husband and son. See Katie’s full bio here. \nChris Rose is a musician and teaching artist from Northeastern Pennsylvania. An avid wanderer\, he has performed with orchestras in Italy\, Sweden\, South Korea\, Alaska\, and around the United States\, and aboard Cunard\, Crystal\, and Royal Caribbean ocean liners. Recent appearances include Vermont’s Marlboro Music Festival\, Colorado’s Jazz Aspen Snowmass Summer Jazz Workshop and New York’s Bridgehampton Chamber Music Festival. He proudly served as a Teaching Artist for the non-profit Empire State Youth Orchestra\, plays trumpet in the Berkshire Symphony\, and and teaches Dalcroze Eurhythmics\, piano\, and brass at Bennington College. \nMusic at the Museum programs are presented at no charge\, thanks to our generous sponsors\,\nAlison Nowak and Robert Cane.

SUMMARY:Annual Meeting and Arnold Ricks Award
DESCRIPTION:Join the Bennington Museum Board of Trustees for our annual meeting where we will review all the successes of Bennington Museum in fiscal year 2026 that you have helped to make possible\, and discuss exciting projects slated for the coming year. \nAt this meeting\, which is open to members and non-members alike\, we will also be presenting the Arnold Ricks Award which is given to an individual or organization in recognition of exceptional contributions to the Bennington community and Bennington Museum. \nThis year we are pleased to honor Tom Dee\, recently retired President and Chief Executive Officer of Southwestern Vermont Health Care (SVHC).  Under his leadership\, the health system attained twelve consecutive years of positive operating performance\, became an institutional member of Dartmouth Health\, and received numerous state and national awards for quality of care\, community leadership and workplace excellence.  During his tenure\, Tom also made sure to give back to the community by directing SVMC’s philanthropic priorities in ways that made a local difference at Bennington Museum and beyond. He encouraged and helped lead economic development in Bennington through his involvement with the repurposing of the former Southern Vermont College campus and the renovations of the downtown Putnam building.  With his late wife\, Rita\, he committed countless hours of personal advocacy and volunteerism across many sectors including to equine and animal rescue efforts\, Catholic charities\, and the arts and culture. \n“Tom has stewarded a truly transformational change in the way the people of this area experience health care\,” says Martin Mahoney\, Executive Director. “But more than that\, he understands that a healthy community is built through strong partnerships. This exemplary vision has paved the way for organizations like ours to begin bold projects\, to make new connections\, and to dream bigger for the benefit of the entire region. SUMMARY:White's Stoneware\, Turned and Molded
DESCRIPTION:The White family produced salt-glazed stoneware in Utica starting with Noah White in 1838. In this presentation Fred Capozzella will discuss the history of that pottery from its founding through the end of stoneware production in 1907 and the final closing in 1910. He will also discuss the role of the Erie Canal and the canal system in the creation and success of White’s Utica. In addition to the illustrated presentation\, Fred will be bringing along examples of White’s Utica products from his personal collection. \nFred Capozzella is a retired educator from the Utica City School District. He is a collector of Utica (NY) related memorabilia\, with a focus on Utica stoneware. DESCRIPTION:a Bennington Historical Society presentation \nAuthor Lawrence Gooley reveals shocking discoveries made while researching Villainous Vermont\, his collection of 32 true murder stories from the past. Learn about the murderess later cited as a Montpelier icon\, unpunished vigilantes\, the stomach-churning secrets behind a young girl’s death\, the worst criminal incident in Vermont history\, and more. \nLawrence Gooley is an award-winning author with a lifetime love of research\, writing\, and history. He has authored 22 regional books on history and true crime. For ten years he wrote a weekly history column on Adirondack Almanack\, the region’s award-winning and most popular online journal. He and his partner\, Jill Jones\, founded Bloated Toe Enterprises in 2004. They have published over 100 titles including 35 historical Adirondack reprints of vintage books. His book\, Oliver’s War: An Adirondack Rebel Battles the Rockefeller Fortune\, won the Adirondack Literary Award for Best Book of Nonfiction in 2008. Another title\, Terror in the Adirondacks: The True Story of Serial Killer Robert F. Garrow\, was a regional best-seller for four consecutive years.
