Love, Marriage, & Divorce

Saturday, March 28, 2020 3:00 to 5:00 pm
Ada Paresky Education Center

On Saturday, March 28, from 3:00 to 5:00 pm, we celebrate the opening of the Museum’s latest exhibition, Love, Marriage, & Divorce. Collections Manager Callie Raspuzzi offers insight into the changing norms (and often not so changing norms) of the customs and rules that governed love, marriage, and divorce, beginning with Colonial America right up to today. Complimentary beverages, savory and sweet bites. $20 for Museum Members and $30 for Not-Yet-Members. Monument Society Members free. Reservations are required by calling 802-447-1571 ext. 200 or go to store.benningtonmuseum.org

This exhibit explores the highs and lows of love and heartache, from gorgeous Victorian wedding gowns, to scandalous tales of sexual harassment. Despite changing social customs, we may find that human nature has changed very little over the years, although the nature of marriage, to this day, continues to shift.
