Angelina Radocchia, Circle #561

My name is Angelina Radocchia.  In 2004 I graduated from Montserrat College of Art with a Bachelors in Fine Arts and a focus in Photography.

I continue my pursuit in the fine arts whether from behind the camera, with paper and pencil, on canvas, with paint and brush or the sculpture shop with cement and wire cutters. I am fascinated by light, shadow and the abstraction of space light can create. This theme can be found in many shapes and forms throughout my work.

In 2015 I started studying circles in response to the Instagram hashtag #100daychallenge. Since then I have sketched and painted over 500 circles. Circles provide endless options to examine line, color, space and composition while still being accessible to the viewer once the finished pieces leave my hands.

Bringing circles out of my sketch books and into the third dimension has opened up new ways to study line and relationship in space. I am challenging myself to think about the materials used in the way I think about color and composition while painting. The landscape is my canvas, grounding Circle #561 as it rises out of the earth.

To see the progression of circles, the newest addition of squares, landscape photography and my portrait work following me on Instagram @abradical or @abruzziarts.
